About chapel

You’ll be in and out in about thirty five minutes. A student team leads worship, someone brings a message from Scripture, and we pray together. A few times a year the whole service is built around something bigger, like Academic Convocation in August or Advent in December.

You don’t need to bring anything, sign up ahead, or know a single person in the room. Sit wherever you like.

Some weeks a guest preaches, some weeks it’s a professor, a staff member, or a student. Tuesday and Thursday share a subject, so if you catch both you’ll hear the same idea from two people who came at it differently.

Chapel is part of Community Life + Worship, the program that houses chapel, intercultural life, and spiritual life. If you’re a full-time traditional undergraduate, you’ll earn 25 CLW points each semester.

Each event is worth 1 point unless it says otherwise, and Academic Convocation is worth 2. Every chapel here shows you what it’s worth. Your attendance is recorded in the RCU app, not on this site.

We plan chapel around one theme for the whole academic year, so the services build on each other instead of starting over every week. For 2026-2027 that theme is Imago Dei: Becoming Who You Were Created to Be.

Every person bears the image of God and therefore possesses God-given dignity, value, relational purpose, and a calling to reflect Christ in the world.

Chapel takes a team, and most of that team is students. Worship, sound, slides, camera, prayer, and the welcome at the door are all filled by people who signed up. Most spots need no experience at all, because we train you once you’re on.
